Richard LINTON (1445-1471) Baron of Castle Linton upon Tweed & Isabella HAY (1447-1508) Lady Tweeddale were the 12th great-grandparents of Charles Edward LINTON (1890-1958) and the 13th great-grandparents of Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987)
Richard LINTON Jr., (1445-1484) Baron of Castle Linton Upon Tweed was the son of Richard LINTON Sr. (1415-1471) Barron of Castle Linton Upon Tweed & Lady Christina de KILBUCHO (1420-1470). Richard was born in 1445 in Castle Linton Upon Tweed, Peebles, Scotland. [i] Richard was recorded in The Exchequer Rolls of Scotland in 1464 and 1469. [ii] Richard was Killed July 22, 1484, at the Battle of Lochmaben Fair, Lochmaben, Scotland. [iii] at age 39.
Richard married Isabella HAY (1447-1508) Lady Tweeddale, the daughter of David HAY (1417-1478) Sir knight & Elizabeth DOUGLAS (1419-1508), circa 1470 in Castle Linton Upon The Tyne, Linton, Peebles, Scotland. Isabella was born in 1447 in Tweeddale, West Linton, Peebles, Scotland and died in 1508 in Midlothian, Parish Holyrodhouse, Edinburgh, Scotland, at age 61. [iv]
Richard & Isabella had five known children from this marriage:
1. Thomas LINTON (1469-1493) was born in 1469 in Castle Linton Upon Tweed, Peebles, Scotland and died on 15 May 1493 in Midlothia, Midlothian, Holyrodhouse, Edinburgh, Scotland, at age 24. [v]
2. Isibell LINTON was born in 1472 in Castle Linton Upon Tweed, Peebles, Scotland. [vi]
3. Arthur LINTON (1475-1538) Baron was born in 1475 in Castle Linton Upon Tweed, Peebles, Scotland and died in 1538 in Traquair, Parish Peebles, Edinburgh, Scotland, at age 63. [vii]
Arthur in 1495 married Christine STEWART (1477-1557) Lady Traquair, in Traquair, Parish Peebles, Edinburgh, Scotland. Christine was the daughter of John STEWART (1439–1512) "The Hearty" Knight of Balveny & Earlshill, Lord of Lorn, Balveny & Auchterhouse, 1st Earl of Atholl, Earl of Balveny & Buchan, Lord Great Chamberlain of Scotland & Eleanor SINCLAIR (1457-1518) Lady of Orkney & Fife, Baroness of Lorn, Balveny & Auchterhouse, 2nd Countess of Balveny, Countess of Atholl & Buchan. Christine was born in 1477 in Traquair, Peeblesshire, Scotland and died in 1557 in Edinburgh, Scotland, at age 80. [viii]
4. William LINTON (1477-1536) was born in 1477 in Castle Linton Upon Tweed, Peebles, Scotland and died in 1536 in Midlothian, Parish Holyrodhouse, EdinbHayurgh, Scotland, at age 59. [ix]
5. Patrick LINTON (1479-1536) was born in 1479 in Castle Linton Upon Tweed, Peebles, Scotland and died in 1547 in Midlothian, Parish Holyrodhouse, Edinburgh, Scotland, at age 68. [x]
