Roger LINTON (1641-1715) Baron & Dorothy NEWBERGH (1641-1681) were the 6th great-grandparents of Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987).

Roger LINTON (1641-1715) was the son of Arthur LINTON (1622-1695) Baron Lowe Crosby & Elizabeth KIRKBRIDE (1622-1670). Roger was born on October 21, 1641, in West Linton,  Kirklinton parish, Carlisle, Cumberland, England and died in 1715 in Cheshire, England at age 74.  Baron Linton’s lands included Upper Lowe Crosby on the  River Eden and Lower Crosby on the River Lyne.  [i]

According to A Topographical Dictionary of England by Samuel Lewis 1848: Kirklinton is an Ancient Parish in the county of Cumberland, it lies on the River Lyne, about 4 miles east-southeast of Longtown including Middle Quarter, West Linton, Westlinton, Kirklington Middle, and Hethersgill. The Parish church is Saint Cuthbert.

Roger’s father and family were involved in the manufacturing of draperies in Dubin and Belfast Ireland and supplying them worldwide.

Roger married Dorothy NEWBURGH (1641-1681) the daughter of Thomas NEWBURGH (1628-1693)  & Anne  BROCKHILL (1629-1657) on January 1, 1661, in the Church of Saint Michan, in Consistary, Dublin, Down, Ireland. The church was built in 1095 and rebuilt in 1681.

Dorothy was born in 1645, in Consistary, Dublin, Ireland and died in 1681 in Down, Down, Northern Ireland, at age 36, She was buried in the Saint  Michael’s Church Yard, Dublin, Ireland . [ii] 

 

 Roger & Dorothy had thriteen known children:
