Drusilla GAY (1868-1948) was born on September 8, 1868, in Aquilla, Hill County, Texas. Drusilla was the daughter of Augustus "Gus" GAY (1840-1879) and Amanda Matilda NASH (1846-1920). Drusilla was the 7th great-granddaughter of Thomas GAY (1590-?), the emigrate from Scotland to Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Drusilla is also the 4th great-granddaughter of Abner NASH (1685-1732) and Elizabeth HINTON (1689-?), of Tenby, Dyfed, Cymru, Wales. Jeff Augustus "Gus" BIRD (1893-1954) was the 7th son of fifteen children born to Drusilla GAY (1868-1948) and Thomas Jefferson BIRD (1861-1931).

Below Photo: Major General Martin Luther Smith (September 9, 1819 – July 29, 1866) was an American soldier and civil engineer, serving as a major general in the Confederate States Army. Before the Mexican-American War, as part of the United States Army's topographical engineers, he is credited with the mapping of Florida. During the Mexican-American War, he was brevetted for his performance in the mapping the valley of Mexico City prior to Winfield Scott's assaults on the city. During the Civil War, he planned and constructed the defenses of Vicksburg. In 1864, he became the head of the Engineer Corps for the entire Confederate Army.

Major Walter Reed, M.D., (September 13, 1851 – November 22, 1902) was a U.S. Army physician who in 1900 led the team which postulated and confirmed the theory that yellow fever is transmitted by mosquitoes, rather than by direct contact. This insight gave impetus to the new fields of epidemiology and biomedicine, and most immediately allowed the resumption and completion of work on the Panama Canal (1904–1914) by the United States.

Clyde married Madeline "Madge" Elizabeth LINTON (1922–1991) on December 22, 1941, in Washington, District of Columbia. Madge was the daughter of Charles "Charlie" Edward LINTON (1890–1958) & Annie Lucretia CRONK (1888–1956). Clyde was a railroad engineer for the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad.
Clyde & Madge had three children: Anthony Clyde BLY born in 1947; Garry Wayne BLY born in 1949; Elizabeth Ann "Betty" BLY born in 1957, all born in in Alexandria, Virginia.
Madge died on December 17, 1991 in Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia. Clyde died on December 12, 1994, in Edinburg, Shenandoah County, Virginia. Both are buried at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, in Woodstock, Shenandoah County, Virginia.
Clyde was the 6th great-grandson of Nicolaus BLEY (1620–1673) & Anna CAHERINA (1620–1693) of Kleeburg, Alsace, Germany. Madge was the sister of Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987) and 12th cousin of Evelyn Virginia BIRD Linton (1922-2012).

Widow Emma Caroline LINTON Mendler (1829-1909) & John W. SMITH (1841-1865) were married on September 16, 1864, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Emma had just lost her first husband, Adolphus MENDLER (1800-1863) on July 3, 1863, in the Battle of Gettysburg. According to the Smith Family Bible, Emma and John Smith were married at 408 Cathanne Street, by Rev Thomas C. Murphy on September 16, 1864. Emma was the daughter of Doctor Lewis Colbert LINTON (1803-1876) and Sarah KOCHER (1810-1870). Emma was the grandaunt of Kirk Louis Linton (1914-1987).

Adolphus MENDLER was killed, July 3, 1863, during the Battle of Gettysburg. Emma then married John W. Smith on September 16, 1864.

John was the brother of Jeff Augustus "Gus" BIRD (1893-1954) also the 12th cousin of Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987) through our Richard THROCKMORTON (1469-1547) and Joan BEAUFO (1470-?) Branch of the Linton & Bird family tree.

James BOURLAND (1723-1757) & Mary Polly CRAWFORD (1723-?) were married on September 17, 1812, in Augusta County, Virginia. James was part of the Bourland family that had adopted the children of John BIRD who was killed at Fort Bird on Lost River in the French & Indian War.

Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph BUCKMAN (1752-1828) and Elizabeth LINTON (1768-1832). Elizabeth was the 2nd cousin three times removed of Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987) Elizabeth was the great-granddaughter of John LINTON (1662-1709) and Rebekah RELFE (1670-1713) the Quaker emigrates.
Nancy V. CHITWOOD (1835-1886) & Benjamin Aaron JENKINS (1835-?) were married on September 17, 1851, in Rutherford, Rutherford County, North Carolina. Nancy was the daughter of Jesse CHITWOOD (1794-1856) and Sarah HORTON (1798-1882). Nancy was the sister-in-law to Charles B. BIRD (1806-1882). Charles was the son of George BIRD Sr., (1774-1847) and Martha "Patsy" ROBESON (1771-1836).
Georganna Lucretia COXEN (1855-1897) was born on September 17, 1855, in Prince Georges County, Maryland. Georganna was the daughter of James Henry Georganna(1833- before 1870) and Lucretia PADGETT (1837-1888). Georganna married Charles Fenton CRONK (1852-1918) on November 29, 1876. Georganna was the granddaughter of George H. PADGETT (1809-1866) and Anna HACKNEY (1809-1845). Georganna was the granddaughter of Thomas COXEN (1811- after 1881) and Georgianna (1811- after 1840). Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987) was the grandson of Georganna Lucretia COXEN (1855-1897) and Charles Fenton CRONK (1852-1918).

Doctor Lewis Colbert LINTON's (1803-1876) Codicil to his Will was witnessed and signed at Woodlawn Plantation by Chalkley on April 17, 1871.
Joshua LINTON (1785-?) was born on September 17, 1785, in the Linton Hundreds, Frederick County, Maryland. Joshua was the son of Zachariah LINTON (1758-1801) and Mary Ann MAYNARD (1754-1809). Joshua was the 6th cousin five times removed of Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987) and is part of our Annie Lucretia Cronk (1888-1956) Virginia Lintons.
