Georganna Lucretia COXEN (1855-1897)

Annie Lucretia CRONK (1888-1956) was the daughter of Georganna Lucretia COXEN (1855-1897). Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987) was grandson of Georganna and Kenneth “Ken” Edward LINTON & Terry Louis LINTON are the great-grandsons of Georganna.

Georganna Lucretia COXEN (1855-1897) was the daughter of James Henry COXEN (1833-1870) & Lucretia PADGETT (1837-1888). She was born on September 17, 1855, in Prince George's County, Maryland and died on May 12, 1897, in Alexandria, Virginia, at age 41.

By 1861, Georganna’s father had sold their farm in Prince Georges County and had moved to West End, Fairfax, Fairfax County, Virginia. Georganna’s father, James died in 1870, following is the sale of his farm in the December 21, 1870, Alexandria Gazette.

“Commissioner Sale of Real Estate in West End, Fairfax County, Virginia. By Virtue of a degree of Circuit Court of Fairfax County, Pronounced at its November Term 1870 in the Chancey Suit of Lucretia Coxen guardian VS Clara Coxen et. al.. The undersigned Commissioner appointed by said degree will offer for sale by public auction at Catts Tavern in West End in Fairfax County, VA. On Saturday the 21^st day of January 1871 at 12 o’clock m the House and Lot of ground of which James Coxen died sized Aug ?... ?... ? in Fairfax County, VA near Padgett’s Toll Gate and particularly described in a deed dated January 1^st 1861 and recorded in Liber E No. 4 Folio 357 one of the Fairfax County Land Records. Terms: one third of purchase money in cash; Residue in two equal payments at nine and eighteen months; The deferred payment to bear interest and surety and retention of title to the property until the purchase money shall have paid. Deed and Stamps at cost of purchasable. D.L. Smoot Comm’r Of Sale Fairfax Co., VA., Dec. 13”

Georganna buried on May 15, 1897, in the Union Cemetery, Methodist Protestant Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [i]

Georganna married Charles Fenton CRONK (1852-1918) the son of Charles Greenberry CRONK (1811-1866) & Sarah Anna "Susanna" MILLS (1833-1866) on November 29, 1876, in the Saint Paul’s Rectory, Alexandria, Virginia. [ii] Charles was born on October 29, 1852, in Jermantown, Providence District, Fairfax County, Virginia. He was christened on November 1, 1852, in the Methodist Church, Fairfax, Fairfax County, Virginia. Charles died on February 10, 1918, in Alexandria, Virginia at age 65, and was buried on February 13, 1918, in the Trinity Methodist Church, Union Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [iii]

Georganna & Charles seven known had children:

Clarence CRONK (1877-1898) was born on October 3, 1877, in Alexandria, Virginia and died on September 29, 1898, in Alexandria, Virginia, at age 20. He was buried on October 1, 1898, in the Trinity Methodist Church, Union Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [iv]

Willian "Willie" CRONK (1879-1931) was born on September 28, 1879, in Alexandria, Virginia. He died on December 23, 1931, in Alexandria, Virginia, at age 52. He was buried in December 1931 in the Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia.

Willian married Myrtle Estes COSBY. Myrtle was born on December 27, 1892, in Virginia, died on June 23, 1965, in Alexandria, Virginia at age 72, and was buried on June 23, 1965, in Bethel Cemetery Alexandria, Virginia. [v]

William & Myrtle had five known children:

Elsie CRONK (1910–1975); Earl William CRONK (1916–1976); Marvin Richard CRONK (1919–1967); Gilbert "Jack" CRONK (1921–1972); George Delbert CRONK (1921–1972). [vi]

iii. Louis Milton CRONK (1881-1919) was born on March 4, 1881, in Alexandria, Virginia., died on January 7, 1919, in Alexandria, Virginia. at age 37, and was buried on January 10, 1919, in Trinity Methodist Church, Union Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia.

William Greenberry CRONK (1884-1931) was born on July 31, 1884, in Alexandria, Virginia. William died on December 23, 1931, in Alexandria, Virginia, at age 47, and was buried in December 1931, in the Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [vii]

William married Myrtle Cosby ESTES (1892-1965), the daughter of Thomas COSBY (1860-1932) & Ann Elizabeth Bettie ANCARROW (1862-1930). [viii] Myrtle was born on December 27, 1892, in Virginia. She died on June 23, 1965, in Alexandria, Virginia. at age 72. She was buried in June 1965 in the Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [ix]

Lena May CRONK (1884-1927) was born on December 18, 1884, in Alexandria, Virginia and died on October 29, 1927, in Alexandria, Virginia, at age 42. She was buried on November 1, 1927, in the Trinity Methodist Church, Union Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [x] On November 24, 1909,

Lena married Andrew Walter BALLARD (1880-1920), the son of John Franklen BALLARD & Martha F, in Alexandria, Virginia. Andrew was born on September 1, 1880, in Lynchburg, Bedford County, Virginia. He died after 1920 in Alexandria, Virginia and was buried in the Saint Mary’s Episcopal Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland. [xi]

Annie Lucretia CRONK (1888-1956) was born on January 18, 1888, in Alexandria, Virginia. She was christened on November 20, 1888, in the Second Presbyterian Church, Saint Aspa Street, Alexandria, Virginia. [xii] Annie died on February 10, 1956, in the Circle Terrace Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia, at age 68, and was buried on February 13, 1956, in the Mount Comfort Cemetery, Mount Eagle Section, Fairfax County, Virginia. [xiii]

Annie married Charles "Charlie" Edward LINTON (1890-1958) the son of John Edward LINTON (1838-1901) & Sallie Fenmor STONESTREET (1861-1928) on December 1, 1909, in Alexandria, Virginia. Annie and Charles were married by Reverent Jas H. Sener with the consent of her father in person. [xiv] Charles was born on December 1, 1890, on the Linton Family Farm, Riverside Park, Mount Vernon District, Fairfax County, Virginia. He was christened in December 1890 in Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria, Virginia. He died on April 6, 1958, in the Circle Terrace Hospital, Alexandria, Virginia, at age 67 [xv] and was buried on April 9, 1958, in the Mount Comfort Cemetery, Mount Eagle Section, Fairfax County, Virginia. Charlie & Annie had seven children: John Edward Charles LINTON (1910–1911); Florence Avis LINTON Beavers (1912–1990); Kirk Louis LINTON (1914–1987); Georganna LINTON (1916–1916); Theodore "Ted" Francis LINTON (1917–1970); Bernadette "Bernie" Thelma LINTON Butler (1921–2014); Madeline "Madge" Elizabeth LINTON Bly (1922–1991).

vii. Mary Emma CRONK (1892-1977) was born on December 29, 1892, in Alexandria, Virginia. She went by her middle name Emma. [xvii] She died on February 6, 1977, in Arlington County, Virginia, at age 84, Emma was buried on February 9, 1977, in the Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [xviii]

Emma married Thomas Andrew PENN (1890-1952), the son of William Sylvester PENN Sr., (1865-1943) & Mary Lucinda "Lulu" WILLIAMS (1865-1917) on 29 29, 1913, they were married by Reverent G.A. Luttrell with the consent of her father in writing. [xix] Thomas was born on March 7, 1890, in Alexandria, Virginia. [xx] according to his Draft Registration on April 27, 1942, taken at George Washington High School: White race; hazel eyes: gray hair; dark complexion; tattoo on both arms; scar across chin. Thomas’ occupation between 1942 and 1952 was a Molder. He was employed by Fruit Growers Express, Duke Street Extended. He died on October 20, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia, at age 62, and was buried in October in the Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. [xxi]
