James DUNBAR (1481-1511) Earl of Moray & Elizabeth OGILVY (1494-1526) were the 13th great-grandparents of Annie Lucretia CRONK (1888-1956) and the 14th great-grandparents of Kirk Louis LINTON (1914-1987).

James was born in 1481 in Westfield, Morayshire, Scotland and died in 1511,  age of 30, in Moray, Morayshire, Scotland. It lies in the north-east of the country, with a coastline on the Moray Firth, and borders the areas of Aberdeenshire and Highland.

James held the title of Earl of Moray, he married Elizabeth OGILVY (1494-1526) in 1510, in Moray, Scotland. Elizabeth was the daughter of James OGILVY (1470–1505) Lord of Dunkeld, Deskford and Findlater & Lady Agnes GORDON (1472–1525)

They had one known child during their marriage, Alexander DUNBAR (1510-1527).

Scottish: habitational name from Dunbar, a place on the North Sea coast near Edinburgh, named with Gaelic dùn ‘fort’ + barr ‘top, summit’.

History: A family of this name were granted the lands of Dunbar by Malcolm III (1058–1093), and later acquired the earldoms of Dunbar and March. These earldoms were then withdrawn from the family by James I in 1434.
